For this project a non-filled synthetic turf was selected, the FT XP 32 nf made by GreenFields. GreenFields is well known for its innovative approach to non-infill synthetic turf systems. The density of the fibre’s coupled with two heights of fibre provide playing characteristics and quality very close to that of the nature of the game. The XP fibre offers superior playing comfort with a natural appearance and a soft surface for players. What makes this fibre authentic is the extraordinary durability. In combination with the pre-fabricated foam Airlastic© XC 070-10 shock pad, long term performance in respect of shock absorption, energy restitution and vertical deformation criteria are achieved.
This project was realized by GreenFields’ Austrian partner STRABAG AG. Oliver Teubl, manager of STRABAG’s sport outdoor department, said: “A non-filled synthetic turf system offers a lot of advantages, especially for this rooftop court project. Due to the fact that there is no infill maintenance is easier. At the same time the constant performance of the system will allow children to enjoy playing football the whole year through, no matter what the weather conditions are. This tremendous project and these superb new surfaces will attract a lot of talented players and rejuvenate football in this part of Vienna”.
