Fylde Sports and Education Centre is an impressive sports facility based at Mill Farm- the new multi-million pound development in Wesham, closely located to Blackpool. The cutting-edge complex is home to rising National League football team, AFC Fylde as well as Fylde Hockey Club and houses a state-of-the-art 6,000-seater stadium as well as several synthetic football and hockey pitches manufactured and constructed by GreenFields.

The stadium and sports centre were both innovations from talented architectural outfit- Frank Whittle Partnership (FWP). The pitches were completed at the end of 2017, with the Sports and Education Centre launched in mid-June to add the finishing touch to this multi-faceted sports hub, and with this last piece of the jigsaw now in place paired with a new website and social media channel the pitches have become increasingly popular.

“Our pitches are not only used by the public but are used by the AFC Fylde First Team for training and the AFC Fylde Ladies Team as well as the Boys and Girls Football Academies. Providing these fantastic facilities makes us the envy of our sporting neighbours and gives the club the chance to succeed at the highest possible level.”

On the prestigious sports site, GreenFields have installed a full-sized sand dressed hockey pitch, a full sized 3G football pitch and six 7-a-side football pitches. On completion of the facility, GreenFields agreed on a sponsorship with Fylde Hockey club with the logo in situ around the pitch perimeter as well as on the team shirts at every level of play.

Fylde Hockey Club Chairmen, Chris Hills couldn’t be happier with their completed hockey pitch and facility as a whole: “Our hockey pitch is fast and smooth allowing good ball control and has proved suitable for all levels of play. As a testament to the quality of the facility, England Hockey have selected the pitch as one of their Performance Centres, and it is also frequently used by local schools.”

To celebrate the completion of the sports centre, the club arranged an aerial photo shoot of the facility in its entirety which makes for impressive viewing, below are some of the photos taken.
