OUR PASSION YOUR SPORT – CRICKET

EquiGrass the revolution for Equestrian arenas

The development of artificial grass surfaces has stimulated much interest in the games of hockey, tennis, rugby and football. The improved qualities of artificial grass have been recognised by  international governing bodies as FIH, FIFA and IRB. But artificial grass is also a perfect solution for cricket because of less maintenance and more hours of play, and last but not least it offers natural play.

A natural grass cricket pitch has to be very well prepared by groundsmen whose jobs include fertilising, mowing, rolling and levelling the surface.

The key action takes place in a specially prepared area of the field, generally in the centre, that is called the pitch. The pitch for cricket has to be a perfectly flat surface. Where natural grass is used it has to be very short grass that tends to be worn away as the game progresses. The “condition” of the pitch has a significant bearing on the match and team tactics are always determined with the state of the pitch, both current and anticipated, as a deciding factor.

There is a lot to think about when you decide to purchase a new synthetic turf field. Request the free checklist with the top 7 points to consider below.

An artificial grass cricket pitch is the solution

Artificial turf for cricket is the solution for increasing the hours of play with no compromise of the pitch quality. Synthetic turf pitches can be played on more frequently and for longer. A natural grass pitch begins to deteriorate after about 250 hours play per season, while synthetic turf can be played on 24 hours a day 7 days a week – dependent on good regular maintenance. With GreenFields sports turf, cricket teams can enjoy a full season of lush grass on a new artificial cricket pitch.

Maintaining a natural grass pitch is labour intensive and requires significant investment of time, effort and capital. While regular maintenance is important to preserve the life of a quality synthetic sports turf such as GreenFields, it is a lot easier and more affordable over the long term GreenFields will also create a customised cleaning and maintenance plan for your needs, train your ground staff in maintenance procedures or implement the maintenance programme we develop on a once off or contractual basis.

This is my last World Cup and I have to say that the stadium and the pitch are amazing. The second pitch in the GreenFields stadium is a nice pitch as well. It’s different from most pitches in Argentina. The pitch is very fast so we love to play here, it’s a very nice pitch.

We are really enjoying the pitch, it is smooth and fast and the main thing is that the field is not slippery. It is good for fast hockey.

Newcastle International Hockey Centre is very pleased with the Greenfields TX product. We have three artificial surfaces and have at all times sourced the best product to suit our centre since its opening in 1989. The players have indicated the surface runs true, sure footing with very little under foot friction, and excellent for all levels of skill.
