Heiler and GreenFields have taken an important step toward a more sustainable future for artificial turf sports fields with the installation of Germany’s first-ever ONE-DNA™ field. Located in the public park of Harsewinkel, the small field (20 x 13 meters) is accessible to everyone and is built entirely from a single material, making efficient and complete recycling possible after years of use.
Sustainability is an increasingly important issue in the artificial turf industry. Traditional sports fields are often made from a mix of materials, which makes recycling difficult and inefficient. The ONE-DNA™ concept addresses this problem, made from 100% polyethylene (PE), there is no separation needed during the recycling process, which makes it fully recyclable and reusable.
Thanks to its energy-efficient production process, ONE-DNA™ also has a lower CO₂ footprint than any other artificial turf systems. After successful installations in the Netherlands, the installation of the first German ONE-DNA™ pitch marks an important milestone for sustainable solutions in sports infrastructure.
Installed in April 2025, the new field is located in the city park of Harsewinkel, located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, between Münster and Bielefeld. The park offers a wide range of activities, including an adventure playground and other sports facilities.
The ONE-DNA™ football field is open to the public, encouraging people of all ages to enjoy outdoor sports while supporting the shift toward environmentally responsible sport facilities.
